Overview
For this unit we learned about different components of a digital electronic systems. This includes various microchips and displays. However the basic blocks of all these components were logic gates and how they can be combined to turn a set of inputs to specific outputs. The gates we used include NOR, OR, NAND, AND and NOT. Since the boolean calculation for these can be long and tiresome, we leaned methods to reduce equations. This made it less tedious as it allowed us to successfully create a circuit diagram of the give gate problem. We also learned about the stepper and the servo motor. To better understand how they worked, we performed labs and answered questions. During these labs we were also modify the circuit using a relay which thought us a lot about the function of the relay. To understand the entire unit, it was important to read schematic diagrams. Since we were required to read many of these such diagrams, I was better able to improve my skill of reading an incorporating schematic diagrams.
