Binary Numbers
From this unit I learned that Binary number are the way computer read and understand. Since we can't understand binary, we have to convert the binary numbers in to other sort of writing that we can understand. Binary numbers are 1 and 0 therefore we cannot under stand them. To understand them we can use the number system by using a code using symbols that refer to a number of items. We can use the decimal number system by using ten symbols (base 10 system). When we studied different examples and did exercises on how to convert binary digits into decimal digit, it became more and more simpler as it went on. We practiced converting binary to decimal and decimal to binary. We also learned that there are devices called electronic translator that can convert the binary numbers in to decimal and decimal to binary. Some individual devices like encoders convert decimal to binary and the decoders convert from binary to decimal. Further learning on the binary conversion led me to the discovery of the hexadecimal conversion Hexadecimal number system uses 16 symbols - Base 16 system: 0-9, A = 10, B = 11, C = 12, D = 13, E = 14, F = 15 to decode the binary number.
